We (me and my husband Gil) visited Mexico in the summer 2002, mostly because of my nagging. Before arrival we booked room in hostel Moneda in Mexico City which turned out to be excellent idea - Mexico City was full of tourist and without booking it was difficult to find cheep place. Cheep?? I used inaproppiate word for price of 22$ for double hostel room.
We really enjoyed Mexico City, in our hostel we met wonderfull people and we saw the first pyramids (Teotihuacan) and eat real mexican food (tacos and tacos and tacos...) and saw the real city mess, markets, latino blood.

We left mexico City fourth day straight to Yucatan, city Merida. There we spent another day, and took bus toward Tulum - the dream beach. On our way we stopped in Chichan Itza pyramids, but the weather was so unbelievably terrible (hot and humid) that we spent there just few hours and continued in the air-conditioner bus. In Tulum we arrived in the evening (five hours from Merida) and found one of the cheapest beach place "Don Armado". We didn't move from the beach for ten days - we did just small morning trips (during day it was impossible to move because of the weather) - we saw the close by Tulum ruins. Except of this we did couple of diving, which was beutifull, the cave diving and also coral reef diving. We drank a lot of coctails in the evenings, created community of friends and started to run too fast out of money...

Meeting with many enthusiastic people coming from Guatemala and our financial situation persuade us and we changed our plans, got up from the wonderfull beach and headed to Guatemala. To Mexico we returned only for last four days of our trip, completely exhausted and also full of enthusiasm for Guatemala. We stayed to rest in San Cristobal (Chiapas) and pass through Paleque back to Merida and forward to start to live our student lifes in USA.
