The shortest way from Tulum (Mexico) to Guatemala was through Belize. But this shortcut cost us in the end a lot of nerves - we had problems on the borders with Belize visa althought we just needed the tranzit. Later on we discovered that most of the tourist had some problems on this border, but we managed in the end and got the transit visa. We will not remember Belize in good light...on the other hand on the Guatemala border, where we some problems expected, was smooth. We crossed border and after Mexico rediscovered another world, felt another atmosphere.

We knew that we have four weeks and without any guide book just with the recommendations of other tourists, we travelled through Guatemala. Through magical Tical ruins - wonderfull place in the center of jungle, full of animals (moscitos), not yet exclavated pyramids and exclavated pyramids with wonderfull views above the forest top. We stayed few days to rest and play chess and voleyball and drink coctails in Finka Isabell (ecological farm) and headed to Antigua (highly turistic city full of spanish language schools and trips to active Vulcanos), lake Atitlan (surrounded by vulcanos) and hot springs in the middle of fog forest back to Mexico.

We really enjoyed Guatemala.
