"Measuring more than 17 kilometers in diameter and covering about 130 square kilometers, Lake Atitlán occupies the crater of an extinct volcano 300 m (1,000 ft) deep and has no visible outlet. Three stately volcanoes - Atitlán (3 537m), Tolimán and San Pedro - rise from its southern shore."
